Does recording a payment charge the customer?

Payments → + Record payment lets you select an invoice, enter the amount already received, choose its method and date, and save the record against that invoice. A partial receipt should use only the amount actually received.

A record and a charge are different actions
Selecting Card in this manual form does not contact a reader or charge a card. Online collection uses a separate approved payment connection and must be checked against the provider’s result.
Before you act
Do not record an uncertain payment again to make the balance disappear. Reconcile the original invoice, provider transaction and bank receipt first.
